Export Control Officer


We are looking for two Export Control Officers to join us on a permanent basis. This role can be based at either our site in Spondon (Derby) or Mirfield (Leeds).

Key Responsibilities

In your role as an Export Control Officer you will contribute to developing and operating the Export Control system, including verifying that shipments meet export regulations and taking responsibility for the timely release of orders for shipment. Duties will include:

• Developing the Chemical system to control release of chemicals for exports in line with legislative regulations and operational requirements.
• Develop a strategy to obtain the export classification, categories and harmonised tariff of chemical products.
• Visit chemical manufacturers/suppliers as required to discuss chemical ratings/classifications
• Processing of applications for Export Licenses within EMEA and APAC regions.
• Verifying correctness of shipments with regard to Export Compliance prior to release for shipping.
• Maintaining records of export shipments for compliance audits.
• Preparation and development of reports to support Export Control Organisation, Home Office or HMRC Customs Officers for audit purposes.


Given the need to follow strict export regulations, we need you to have excellent attention to detail and be analytical in your thinking. Other skills and experiences include:

• Strong IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel
• Experience within the aerospace or manufacturing industries (highly desirable)
• Experience within an analyst role
• Experience or knowledge of trade compliance
• Strong customer service skills
• A confident decision maker with the ability to influence others
• Previous knowledge or a background in the operation of Export Controls.
